What to Expect
What to Expect From Your Ultrasound Exam
How to prepare for an ultrasound exam
Depending on your ultrasound exam, you may be asked not to eat or drink fluids or to have a full bladder. The person scheduling your ultrasound exam will tell you how to prepare for it. You should wear loose fitting clothing on the day of your exam.
What you’ll experience during the exam
As a general rule, you won’t experience any pain or discomfort during the exam. If the transducer is placed over an area of tenderness, you may feel some slight discomfort.
Who reads the ultrasound exam
At St. Rose Hospital, a Radiologist who is an expert in interpreting ultrasound examinations will read the study and dictate a report, which will be sent to the ordering physician.
