Pre-Placement Physical Exams
Pre-placement physical exams are an important part of the hiring process. They help determine if a potential candidate can meet the requirements of the position for which they are applying.
Physical exams can be as simple as a basic history and physical, or they can also include a DOT (Department of Transportation) physical or respirator exam. Physicals can be customized to meet your needs, including combination pre-employment physical and drug screening. We also offer customized strength and flexibility assessments to help employers screen applicants for meeting the physical demands of a job.
All applicants must have a valid photo identification card for physical exams and drug screens. Drug screenings can be done without an appointment.

On-Site Services
On-site evaluations offer employers the best of both worlds: convenience and cost-effectiveness. Our on-site services include:
- Physician Site Visit. Physician site visits can be an important tool to help evaluate the cause of work-related injuries, especially if several employees experience identical or similar injuries. The physician can gain a better understanding of the conditions and make recommendations to reduce injuries on the job, or make decisions regarding modified duties for the employee(s) affected.
- Back Safety and Lifting Training. Our Physical Therapy staff can provide on-site training in proper body mechanics and lifting techniques. Classes can be designed for your particular needs. The therapist will first conduct a site visit to observe the scope of activities and discuss class content with you. A one-time training session, periodic classes, or a series of regular visits can be arranged.
- Ergonomic Evaluations. Employee injuries can be associated with repetitive motions and awkward postures. Ergonomic evaluations can help employers and employees identify and reduce such risk factors. Our Physical and Occupational Therapy staff will visit your work place to perform evaluations of the office, manufacturing, or other areas. They’ll prepare a written report of the findings and recommendations and send it to you after the visit. Let us help you set up an effective Ergonomics Program in your facility.
- Health Fairs. Helping your facility maintain healthy, productive employees is part of our job. Our staff is available to attend safety meetings or in-house health fairs to provide high blood pressure checks, cholesterol screens, vision screens and body fat testing.
- Flu Shots. Each winter, organizations experience a drop in productivity due to illnesses such as the flu. Flu shots are an important way of maintaining healthy employees. The Occupational Health Clinic nurse is available to administer on-site flu shots to employers with at least 20 employees. This service is normally available from October to December. It is highly recommended that employers wishing to utilize this service make arrangements by September. For more information, contact our Occupational Health Specialist at (510) 264-4207.
