Hospitalist Program
Hospitalist Program
Hospital-based physicians, referred to as Hospitalists, provide care to patients during the course of their hospital stay. When patients are discharged, their care is then assumed by their primary care physicians. This process is a very popular and effective means of providing optimum care and communication to patients and families.
All Hospitalists at St. Rose are experts in the fast-changing field of hospital-based medicine and treating acute illness. These physicians offer a number of potential benefits for inpatients. Most importantly, they are more available to patients when acute problems arise because they are located at the hospital 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Our Hospitalists stay in touch with your primary care doctor from the time you’re admitted until you’re discharged. You can count on the communication between the Hospitalists and your primary care doctor to be thorough, so they will always be fully informed of your progress.
Hospitalists only see patients during their hospital stay, so when you are discharged the Hospitalist will contact your primary care doctor or make arrangements for your follow-up care. At this time you will also schedule any necessary follow-up appointments with your own physician.
